HOW WE HELP
THERAPY ISN'T ONE SIZE FITS ALL.
At Coastal Counseling, we draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches to meet you where you are—and walk with you toward where you want to be. Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, burnout, identity, or life transitions, these frameworks help us tailor support that’s personal, practical, and empowering.
Explore the methods we use below to see how healing can look different for everyone—and how it might look for you.

1 / Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT helps you build a life aligned with your values, even when difficult thoughts and feelings show up. Instead of trying to get rid of pain, ACT teaches you how to accept it—and take meaningful action anyway. We'll explore mindfulness skills, clarify what truly matters to you, and learn how to unhook from thoughts that keep you stuck.
2 / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT helps you identify and shift unhelpful thinking patterns that affect how you feel and act. It's a structured, practical approach that focuses on the present and empowers you with tools to manage anxiety, depression, and more. Expect to learn how to reframe negative thoughts, track patterns, and experiment with new behaviors that support your goals.
3 / Person Centered Therapy
This approach puts you at the center. You’ll be met with unconditional support, empathy, and a judgment-free space to be fully seen and heard. Healing happens through connection, trust, and the freedom to be yourself. We'll work at your pace. There’s no agenda—just a safe space to explore what matters most to you.
4 / Motivational Interviewing
If you're feeling stuck between wanting change and staying the same, MI can help you reconnect with your inner motivation. This approach gently guides you through ambivalence and empowers you to take steps toward what you truly want. Through thoughtful, collaborative conversations, we’ll explore your goals, values, and readiness for change—on your terms.
5 / Narrative Therapy
Your story matters—and it’s not finished yet. Narrative therapy helps you separate yourself from the problems you face, offering space to rewrite limiting stories and reclaim your strengths. Together, we’ll explore how past experiences have shaped your identity and help you author new chapters with meaning and hope.
6 / Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
SFBT is a forward-looking, goal-oriented approach that focuses on what’s working and how we can build on it. It's about creating meaningful change, one small step at a time. We’ll spend more time talking about your goals and potential solutions than problems—because even small shifts can create big impact.
7 / Strengths-Based Therapy
You already carry inner strengths—and this therapy helps you recognize and build on them. It’s about seeing yourself through a lens of possibility, not pathology. We’ll focus on resilience, skills, and lived wisdom, helping you tap into what’s already within you to face life’s challenges.
8 / Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)
Sometimes the pain we feel is rooted in our relationships. IPT focuses on the way your relationships and communication patterns impact your mental health—and how improving them can help you feel better. We’ll explore connection, conflict, grief, and role transitions, working to strengthen your emotional and relational wellbeing.
9 / Coaching
Coaching is future-focused and action-driven. If you’re ready to set goals, overcome barriers, and build the life you want, coaching offers structure, support, and accountability. We’ll clarify your vision, break it into steps, and work side by side to help you get unstuck and move with confidence.
